Father’s Day is a celebration to honor fathers, a vital member within the family. Father’s Day is celebrated in a variety of ways worldwide and the day is not commonly considered a holiday.
Fathers are honored in most of the Latin American countries, USA and Canada on the 3rd Sunday of every June. Spain celebrates this day on March 19th, with St. Joseph Festivity.
Lyndon Jonson, USA President declared the 3rd Sunday of June as Father’s Day in 1966 to honor John Bruce Dodd, a man who was considered a model as he raised his 9 children.
Regularly, a father plays one of the most important roles in the process of bringing up his children. In some cases, a man can be honored as a father even though not related through legal or blood ties.
This situation happens in cases of adoption and with men who are either married or living with a woman who has previously had children from a different relationship.
